Nottingham Forest are expected to finalise the departure of a £60k-a-week player on Wednesday, as he could be involved in the relegation six-pointer against West Ham United tonight.

Forest gearing up for crucial game against West Ham

Sean Dyche’s side have been in very poor form in recent weeks, losing their last four Premier League games, but luckily, West Ham have been unable to capitalise, and Forest remain four points clear of tonight’s opponents.

The Tricky Trees are set to travel to the London Stadium tonight, for a game that could have major ramifications come the end of the season, and Dyche will be hoping for an improved performance from an attacking point of view, as his side have scored twice in their last four games.

The manager bemoaned the lack of goals in his pre-match press conference, saying: “You’ve got to look at the facts and the stats. At the end of last season, the goals weren’t as regular. Pre-season goals weren’t as regular.

“At the beginning of the season, goals weren’t as regular. We’ve actually performed better. But you’ve got to score goals that win games, not just goals from behind.”

Summer signing Arnaud Kalimuendo was brought in to provide an attacking threat, but the striker has failed to deliver, remaining goalless across nine Premier League appearances to date.

Consequently, Forest are now expected to finalise a deal to loan Kalimuendo to Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday, according to a report from BILD (via Sport Witness), which states he could even be named as a substitute tonight.

A complete agreement has been reached with the Bundesliga side, who were forced to agree to the move being slightly delayed, with the Tricky Trees making the centre-forward’s involvement in tonight’s squad a condition of the deal.

Nottingham Forest have already identified a replacement for the outgoing Arnaud Kalimuendo this January.

The Frenchman, who rakes in a tidy £60k-a-week, will then be free to travel to Germany to complete a medical tomorrow.

Kalimuendo unlikely to be major loss for Forest

In truth, it seems a little strange that Nottingham Forest aren’t willing to green-light the move until after tonight’s match, given that the 23-year-old has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League, appearing for just 88 minutes in total.

The former Rennes man has failed to even get off the bench in eight of the last 11 Premier League matches, which shows he clearly isn’t needed for the game against West Ham, and it is the correct decision to sanction a loan move.

With Kalimuendo set to depart, there may be space in the squad to bring in a new striker, and it was recently revealed that an approach has been made for Wolverhampton Wanderers star Jorgen Strand Larsen, who scored an impressive 14 Premier League goals last season.
